Freeze for Peace

Madison, WI

The proceeds from the Freeze for Peace Run go directly to the Peace Community of San Jose´ de Apartado´, Dane County’s sister community in Colombia.

The Peace Community of San Jose was the first community to declare itself a non-violent resistance community, something totally unusual in a country used to violent resistance. The Peace Community of San Jose´ de Apartado´ was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by the American Friends Service Committee in 2007.

The Colombia Support Network works for peace with justice in Colombia, where over 7 million people have been displaced by violence.

Dane County is an official Sister of the Peace Community of San Jose de Apartado, Colombia per resolution 392 (1989-1990). The Colombia Support Network has been working with the people of San Jose de Apartado for over twenty-eight years

Our Co-Sponsor is Madison-Rafah Sister City Project (MRSCP). MRSCP was established in 2003 as an unofficial solidarity sister city with Rafah, a city and refugee camp at the southern border of the Gaza strip, Palestine.
